Kirstie Alley was 'madly in love' with John Travolta until his wife stepped in

Kirstie Alley finally revealed she was "madly in love" with her Look Who's Talking co-star John Travolta just four years before her death.

The Cheers actress admitted that not sleeping with John was "one of the hardest things I've ever done" after they fell for each other on set in 1989.

Kirstie said the feeling was "mutual" but they decided not to start a sexual relationship because she was married to Parker Stevenson at the time.

"“I will say it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, the hardest decision I’ve ever made because I was madly in love with him — we were fun and funny together,” Kirstie told Dan Wootton on his podcast in 2018.

“It wasn’t a sexual relationship because I’m not going to cheat on my husband. But, you know, I think there are things that are way worse than sexual relationships, than cheating on someone that way.

"I consider what I did even worse because I actually let myself fall in love with him and stay in love with him for a long time.”

Kirstie admitted to flirting outrageously with Travolta even after he married his wife Kelly Preston in 1991.

Until Kelly herself stepped in and put an end to it.

"Kelly came up to me, and they were married then, and she said, ‘Erm, why are you flirting with my husband?’” Kirstie said.

“And that was sort of when I had to make a decision and that was pretty much the end of that.”

But Kirstie had no regrets and said the pair "would have devoured each other".

“It would be like two blazing stars that just fizzled out," she said.

Earlier today it was revealed Kirstie has died at the age of 71 after only recently discovered she had cancer.

Her Look Who's Talking co-star, John Travolta, was quick to pay tribute to her following the sad news.

Posting an image of her on his social media, the star penned: "Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again."
