A message from a Riverside Constituency Labour Party WhatsApp group, which has been shared with the ECHO, revealed details of the suspension.
The message reads: "Just to let you know that Kirkdale ward has been suspended pending investigation by the region.
"This means that until the investigation is completed no Kirkdale delegates will be able to attend branch or CLP meetings or hold office."
The ECHO understands the suspension affects party members not ward councillors. The suspension means party members will not be able to attend constituency or local government committee meetings.
It also means the ward cannot select its candidate for municipal elections.
The suspension also means Kirkdale ward delegates may not seek any office in the Labour Party.
A spokesperson for the Labour Party said: "I can confirm that the branch has been suspended.
"An internal inquiry is underway so it wouldn’t be appropriate to comment further while that is in process."
Last month Labour suspended Ford ward in south Sefton following allegations of "intimidation and harassment."
