Kirkcudbright's Emergency Services Day brings out the crowds

Spectators turned out in force for the emergency services day in Kirkcudbright on Sunday.

Kirkcudbright RNLI and their colleagues from Workington both put on rescue demonstrations, as did the fire brigade and the K9 specialist dog search team with German Shepherd Shadow.

Other organisations attending included the police, NHS, Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes, Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, the MOD training area near Dundrennan and the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Music came from Creetown Silver Band – in town for the arts and crafts trail – and there were also vintage tractors and lorries as well as a Green Goddess fire engine thanks to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Museum in Greenock.

Organiser Mike Merry said: “The sun shone and the feedback we have had from participants and the people who came, and the comments I’ve seen on websites, are all good. We’re hoping it can become an annual event.”
