One of the Stewartry’s biggest employers has dished out more than £100,000 to good causes.
Kirkcudbright pate producers Castle MacLellan gave the cash to Castle Douglas Nursery, Kirkcudbright Sea Cadets and Carlingwark House care home.
The company is owned by Kavli Trust which donates all profits to charity and good causes.
The beneficiaries were nominated by employees, with the charities then asked to submit an application to show how their share of the £105,000 would be spent.
Castle MacLellan operations manager, Paul Dunlea, said: “We are delighted to be donating £105,000 of our profits to three fantastic local beneficiaries.”
Carlingwark House in Castle Douglas was given £50,000 towards equipment to help residents with dementia or sight and hearing impairments. That will include tactile kits for sensory stimulation, an interactive table, motion and a basketball kit for wheelchair users.
In a joint statement, Samantha Fairlcoth-Wood and Kelly Henderson from the care home said: “We are overjoyed to receive such a fantastic donation from Castle MacLellan. The incredible amount provided will make an immense difference to both the residents at Carlingwark House and their families.”
Castle Douglas Nursery received £20,000 towards new climbing equipment, storage units and an outdoor classroom, as well as bikes and scooters.
And Kirkcudbright Sea Cadets received £35,000 towards refurbishing the unit’s building.
It currently has a number of vacancies available in its factory, with further information available at https://castlemaclellan.co.uk/.
