Eco-friendly crafters enjoyed an unusual task at Kirkcudbright Climate Kitchen recently – making beeswax wrapping.
The 100 per cent natural product can be used as a durable and reusable alternative to plastic stretch covering.
Rose Hall, who runs the initiative at her High Street home, said: “Everyone made three wraps of different sizes.
”We used beeswax, pine resin and jojoba oil to coat fabric that used to be a duvet cover.
“Beeswax wraps are an eco alternative to using cling film for wrapping food and covering bowls.
“They reduce our plastic use, our demand on natural resources and promote a more sustainable lifestyle.”
Rose, who previously lived in Kirkcudbright, moved back to the town from Edinburgh in May.
Before that she held regular classes in the capital promoting sustainable living and recycling ideas.
She said: “It took me a year to develop the recipe for the beeswax mixture.
“Before I moved down I trained more than 1,000 people in Edinburgh.”
Crafters held their last Kirkcudbright Climate Kitchen of 2022 yesterday.
Top task was fashioning jewellery from old bicycle tyres.
