The NFL’s top 100 list voted on by the players ranked Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins at number 42 on the list.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Cousins was ranked highly. Head coach Kevin O’Connell extracted the best out of Cousins in his first season with the Vikings. Cousins was more aggressive and willing to make the big throw than he had ever been before. The 11-0 record in one-score games and eight fourth-quarter comebacks resonate in a big way.
He came in ahead of Jared Goff, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields, Tua Tagovailoa, Geno Smith and Trevor Lawrence with both Jackson and Lawrence being a surprise.
Going into the 2023 season, Cousins is on the last year of his contract and primed to take a huge step forward with the Vikings.
