Kirk Cousins Brushes Off Question About Potential Trade From Vikings Amid Rumors

With the Vikings starting the season 1-4, people have begun to speculate whether Minnesota may trade Kirk Cousins before the deadline. The veteran quarterback is in the final year of his contract, and at 35 years old, is better suited for a team that is looking to contend for a championship than one that is staring down a potential rebuild.

In order for Minnesota to make a trade, Cousins would have to waive his no-trade clause. However, despite the rumors, Cousins is trying to remain focused on each game with the Vikings and isn’t thinking about a potential move.

“You know, I am just very focused on the Bears and going 1-0 this week, and anything else is just not worth my time or energy or attention,” Cousins said on Wednesday.

Currently in his 12th NFL season, Cousins is now in his sixth year with the Vikings following six in Washington. Cousins has led the Vikings to the playoffs twice but hasn’t reached beyond the divisional round.

Through five games this year, Cousins has totaled 1,498 passing yards and a league-leading 13 passing touchdowns with just four interceptions. He has also been very durable in his career, missing just two games since becoming a full-time starter with Washington in 2015.

While Cousins’s future remains a mystery, he will have to navigate moving forward without star wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who will miss at least the next four games with a hamstring injury.
