Kings Charles and Camilla's touching nod with outfit choice

King Charles and the Queen Consort Camilla visited Liverpool today ahead of Eurovision.

While attending the M&S Bank Arena and Liverpool Central Library, their Majesties dressed in matching colours. Both King Charles III and Camilla wore blue, in what could be interpreted as a a show of solidarity with Ukraine.

King Charles wore a navy blue suit with a blue tie with white stars on.

Camilla wore a cobalt blue coat that was buttoned up and was designed by Fiona Clare. The Queen Consort has worn many of her designs before.

She finished her look by wearing the Tudor Crown brooch which is the same design that features on King Charles' cypher.

The UK is hosting the event on behalf of Ukraine, after Kalush Orchestra from Turin, Ukraine won last year’s Eurovision 2022. It will be the first time in 25 years that the UK has hosted.

In accordance with Eurovision rules, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) gave Ukraine the opportunity to host this year's contest, which would be the 67th Eurovision Song Contest. However, it was decided that the country would be unable to do so owing to the demands of the ongoing conflict.

With the UK being a runner up in last year’s Eurovision competition, it was confirmed as the host country in July of last year. As part of the visit to Liverpool today, The royal party also chatted to a selection of the Eurovision hosts including Ukrainian singer, Julia Sanina, Emmy-Award winning actress Hannah Waddingham and BBC Radio 2 commentators Rylan and Scott Mills.

They also met the UK’s entrant for the 2023 contest Mae Muller and music director of Eurovision 2023 Kojo Samuel. Later this afternoon, The King and The Queen Consort will visit Liverpool Central Library, to officially mark the Library’s twinning with Ukraine’s first public Library, the Regional Scientific Libraryin Odesa.

Their Majesties will meet key partners involved in both a two-week cultural festival that will run alongside the contest, and Eurolearn, a Eurovision-inspired education programme for primary and secondary pupils.
