"Kingdom Come: Deliverance" fans will soon be able to experience the acclaimed medieval RPG in an entirely new way.
Czech Games Edition has officially announced "Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game," with pre-orders now open ahead of its planned release in the first quarter of 2027.
The announcement continues the growing trend of popular video game franchises making the transition to tabletop gaming, including "Final Fantasy" and "Elden Ring."
Award-Winning Designers Behind the Project
Unlike many licensed board games that rely heavily on collectible miniatures, "Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game" is being developed by two of the tabletop industry's most respected designers.
Tomáš Holek, known for the award-winning strategy game SETI, is collaborating with Vlaada Chvátil, the acclaimed designer behind Codenames and Through the Ages. Their involvement suggests the game will focus on meaningful gameplay and strategic depth rather than simply leveraging the popularity of the video game franchise.
According to Czech Games Edition, the design team aims to capture the freedom, exploration, and player-driven decision-making that made the original RPG a standout title.
Explore Medieval Bohemia Through Branching Storylines
The board game takes players to the Kingdom of Bohemia, where they begin as ordinary citizens before forging their own paths through a living medieval world.
According to Polygon, players can choose from multiple storylines that unfold across three major cities. Every decision affects how the narrative progresses, creating different outcomes and encouraging replayability.
Along the way, optional side quests allow players to gather resources, gain experience, and improve their characters before tackling more difficult challenges.
This branching campaign structure is what every fan wants to see: the open-world experience and beauty of the original "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" game.
Deck-Building and Character Progression Add Strategic Depth
Gameplay revolves around deck-building mechanics that determine the outcome of combat encounters, skill checks, and other challenges.
Players develop their characters by acquiring equipment and improving abilities such as combat, hunting, stealth, and thievery. These upgrades allow different strategies to emerge throughout each campaign.
The game supports solo play as well as cooperative sessions for up to four players. Depending on the number of participants and the chosen campaign, play sessions can last anywhere from approximately 90 minutes to six hours, making it a substantial experience for tabletop RPG fans.
Premium Edition Launches in 2027
"Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game" is priced at $199.99 (€149.99) and includes a large campaign featuring branching narratives and high production values.
Czech Games Edition also offers an optional $49.99 accessory pack containing 75 metal coins modeled after medieval silver groschen for collectors seeking a more immersive experience.
For tabletop gamers, this is a must-play board game next year, especially if you are a fan of "KCD."
