King Salman received a call from US President Joe Biden on Wednesday, during which the two leaders reaffirmed the historic and strategic ties between the Kingdom and the United States.
They discussed the need to strengthen cooperation and achieve stability in the region and world.
Biden stressed the US commitment to support Saudi Arabia in the defense of its people and territory from the Iranian-enabled attacks by the Houthis against civilian targets in the Kingdom. He also affirmed full support for UN-led efforts to end the war in Yemen.
For his part, King Salman hailed the US’ commitment to supporting the Kingdom in its defense of its land and citizens.
He also said Saudi Arabia supports US efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, stressing the need for joint work to counter the destabilizing activities of Iran’s proxies in the region.
Both leaders also discussed the need to strengthen mutual security cooperation to confront terrorism and its financing.
The king stressed the importance of maintaining balance and stability in the oil markets, and the role of the historic OPEC+ agreement and the need to maintain it.
