The poignant reason King Charles chose to wear blue for his maiden Christmas Day speech has been revealed.
This year’s Christmas marked the first without Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch who had been at the heart of the royal family and country for decades.
But after her death in September this year, King Charles took up the mantle and delivered this year’s December 25 address.
Charles was dressed in a tailored, chequered blue suit complete with a geometric silk pocket square and floral blue tie, and one expert has revealed one possible reason behind his clothing.
Behavioural Colour Psychologist Karen Haller, author of The Little Book of Colour, said that Charles chose to wear blue because it communicates that the wearer is "in a position of authority, trustworthy, reliable and can be depended on."
The colour shows that the wearer has "a sense of duty" and that they "take that seriously with committed focus," too.
According to colour psychology, blue is associated with trustworthiness and reliability.
It has also been claimed today the King could have opted for the colour for a touching reason to do with the Queen.
Charles may have opted for the shade due to it reportedly being his late mother's favourite.
Charles hosted Christmas Day at Sandringham, with members of the Royal Family making their traditional Christmas Day walk to St Mary Magdalene church, on the estate in Norfolk.
The Prince and Princess of Wales brought their youngest son, Louis, four, who joined his siblings George, nine, and Charlotte, seven.
Louis grabbed attention with his antics, once more, by seemingly growing impatient in the middle of the royals meeting the Christmas crowds.
He appeared to tug at his mum’s hand as the prince seemed keen to get back to Sandringham House.
The disgraced Duke of York, Prince Andrew, was also in attendance along with his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.
Charles was accompanied by Queen Consort, Camilla, and Sophie Wessex, Prince Edward, Zara Phillips and her husband Mike Tindall were all also present.
