King Charles's amazing response to man asking him to go for a beer goes viral

The royal family is well-known for its witty sense of humour - and King Charles is more than happy to join in the fun. The new monarch had crowds in stitches with his hilarious response to a man who asked him if he fancied going for beer, the Mirror reports.

Daniel Walker, from Birmingham, was on his way to the pub this summer when he spotted the royal greeting crowds. The 36-year-old, who works a senior e-commerce specialist, decided to ask him if he wanted to tag along - and the new King did not disappoint with his response.

Daniel later posted a video of exchange to Twitter - with many users fondly comparing King Charles' humour to that of the late Queen. In the clip, the monarch can be seen greeting members of the public as Daniel shouts: "Charles, do you want to go for a beer?"

His Majesty simply replies: "What?" and as the question is repeated, his eyes light up as he asks: "Where?". The crowd, including King Charles, erupt in laughter and he points back before saying: "You’ll have to recommend somewhere."

While mourning the nation’s loss, Daniel believes he will make a great leader and the fun memory is one he will cherish forever. "It’s something I could talk about for the rest of my life," he said.

"I think he’s going to be a good leader, as growing up, a lot of people I know benefited from the Prince’s Trust and, after this stunt, it’s made me recognise all the hard work he’s done. I had only finished work and was walking to meet my mates for a drink, where I was minding my own business – until I suddenly saw him.

"I thought, if I’m going for a pint, perhaps I’ll ask if he wants one as well. I think he thought he was getting heckled at first, as I was shouting his name and I’m quite tall, so the initial response was slightly rude. But after I repeated myself, I couldn’t believe it as I didn’t think he would respond to me."

Daniel claims King Charles’ security began laughing and proceeded to ask for him to wait, as the royal wanted to meet him. He said: "I got to meet him after and shake his hand. He was about to walk off, but then saw me and put his hand out before asking what I did as a job.

"He commented I was a 'proper Brummie lad’ and wished me all the best. It’s made me like him even more because I saw his human side.

"People don’t see all the good things he’s done, as they’re always looking for the negative – but I’ve got a lot of respect for him. I hope he’s still up for that pint, as it’d be unbelievable. It can be my treat as well, as a good luck on his new job."

The clip was filmed at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on July, 28 2022, by Andrew Gould. After it was shared on TikTok, the popular post racked up 8.5 million views and 700,000 likes.

Users flocked to the comments to share their reactions, with many sharing their own experiences of meeting the King. One user said: "He has the same sense of humour as his mum."

"Fortunate enough to have met him twice and in private he’s so down to earth and funny," one viewer commented. Another person added: "Charles response 'what’ spoken like a true royal."

"He’s winning me over,” someone else said. "He’s really funny! Met him when I was 17 and asked if I could marry one of his sons. He said 'take your pick," one user commented, followed by a laughing face emoji.
