King Charles III tonight repeated the promise his beloved mother made 75 years ago as he pledged to serve the country and its people for the entirety of his life.
During a solemn address to the nation in which he also spoke of his love for her, his wife and children, the new King said he wants to follow the example of Queen Elizabeth II and her devotion to duty.
Charles became king on Thursday after Queen Elizabeth died aged 96 at her Scottish residence.
