Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla recently made a surprise stop in India during their return journey from a royal tour to Australia and Samoa. The royal couple, aged 75 and reportedly in good health, took a brief break in Bengaluru, where they stayed at the Soukya International Holistic Health Centre. This wellness center, known for its Ayurvedic and homeopathic treatments, yoga, and meditation sessions, provided the monarchs with a tranquil retreat.
Having visited India multiple times in the past, the King and Queen were familiar with the center and its offerings. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed that the stopover was intended to break the long journey back from Samoa, emphasizing that it was a private visit. The royal couple has now returned to the UK after their short stay in India.
The Soukya International Holistic Health Centre is described as a place to restore the body’s natural balance of mind, body, and spirit. While the visit was not directly related to the King's health, it was seen as a necessary rest stop during the extensive travel schedule.
Upon returning to the UK, King Charles III is set to resume his cancer treatment, following his recent diagnosis earlier this year. The royal tour to Australia and Samoa marked his first long-haul trip since the diagnosis, culminating in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa.
Looking ahead, the King is expected to resume regular overseas trips in 2025, with plans for tours in the spring and autumn. Palace officials have expressed optimism about the King's recovery and his ability to engage in future international engagements.
The recent trip was described as a positive experience that boosted the King's spirits and overall well-being. As preparations begin for the upcoming overseas tour program next year, there is a sense of optimism within the royal household regarding the King's health and future travel plans.
