Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the UK has been followed by an unmistakable reminder from King Charles III that their position within the Royal Family has not changed.

A letter issued on the King's behalf has reaffirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain non-working royals and are regarded as akin to private citizens, with their His and Her Royal Highness styles still in abeyance. Royal commentator Helena Chard has described the intervention as a decisive reality check for the couple.
