King Charles III has instructed that a period of royal mourning will begin following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Buckingham Palace has said today that it is the wish of the new King that the period of mourning will begin from now until seven days after the Queen's funeral. The date of the the funeral will be confirmed in due course.
The palace did not say when the funeral would be held, but it is likely to take place around 11 days after the queen's death on Thursday.

Buckingham Palace royal residences will close until after the Queen's funeral, including the Queen's Gallery and the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, as well as the Queen's Gallery in Edinburgh.
Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House, the Queen's private estates, will also close for this period, as will Hillsborough Castle, the sovereign's official residence in Northern Ireland.
Royal Mourning will be observed by members of the royal family, royal household staff and representatives of the royal household on official duties, together with troops committed to ceremonial duties, Buckingham Palace said. There will be no physical books of condolence at the royal residences. An online book of condolence is available on the royal website.
A gun salute will be fired in London at 1 pm in Hyde Park, with one round fired for each year of the 96-year-old queen's life, Buckingham Palace said on Friday.
