A mum-of-two, who has been branded the “kindest person you’ll ever meet”, has been given months to live following a “shock” cancer diagnosis.
Kirsty Guy, 32, from Ellesmere Port, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, whilst she was pregnant with her youngest child. After undergoing chemotherapy, Kirsty prematurely gave birth to daughter Hallie and went on to have a course of radiotherapy as well as a mastectomy.
Despite getting the all clear two years ago, Kirsty was given the devastating news last month that the cancer has spread to her lungs, liver and sternum, and told that her condition is not curable. Childhood best friend, Rebecca Blundell, 33, told the ECHO: “We found out that Kirsty has months to live. We’re hoping it's longer, because the thought of her two girls without their mum is horrific.”

Kirsty and husband Shaun have two children; Hallie, 2, and Scarlett, 5. Although her condition is terminal, Kirsty continues to maintain a positive outlook on life, and Rebecca has hailed her friend’s ‘ridiculous’ strength in the darkest of times.
She said: “Kirsty is ridiculously strong. The way she’s dealt with everything is amazing. She doesn’t like to be treated like she’s ill. If you look at her like she’s ill, she’ll go mad at you.
"She was born with Cerebral Palsy so she has always had to battle and do things differently because she hasn’t got much use of the left side of her body. She still does the school runs and the shopping.
"She’s the kindest person. Even now, she’ll message me asking if I’m okay and I’m like, ‘Why are you asking me?”. She’s the kindest person you’ll ever meet. Just a lovely girl really.”
Kirsty, who is an only child, lost her dad to cancer when she was just 16, and gets ‘incredibly upset’ at the thought of leaving mum Caroline behind. But the 32-year-old has vowed to fight to make the time she has left as special as possible for her two girls.
Rebecca said: “At first, it was obviously a ridiculous shock because we thought she’d have years, not months. But now she’s like ‘I’m going to fight to have as long as I can for my girls’. She does have her moments, especially when she thinks about the girls and the things she won’t see while they’re growing up.
"But she’s still so full of life and it’s so cruel that this is happening to someone like her.”
Kirsty’s condition has left her unable to work, with husband Shaun also taking time off to support her. With finances tight, Rebecca, who has been best friends with Kirsty since secondary school, decided to set up a GoFundMe to ensure that the family are able to enjoy their time together over the coming months.
Rebecca told the ECHO: “I thought she was going to punch me when I suggested a GoFundMe because she hates being treated like she’s ill, but she let me do it. I can’t believe how many people have donated in the last three days. We’ve raised more than £6,000 so far. It brings a bit of light to the dark times.”
