A kind-hearted plumber has been praised for his generosity after offering to carry out work free of charge.
Chris Griffiths from Neston in Wirral has even said his colleagues now joke with him about how he is and claim he is too nice to accept payments from customers. It started back in November when Chris noticed bills increasing.
He shared a post on Facebook which said: “With the winter kicking in and bills through the roof I will be offering all OAPs 50% discount on my labour…or even for free in some cases.”

Chris said: "I still try to help people wherever I can. My apprentice who works with me is always having a go at me saying I never charge anyone.
“I will continue to help my local community where I can."
His offer is said to have benefited many customers, some of whom even nominated Chris for a local hero award. After being shortlisted from dozens of entries, Chris then won a public vote to become the Local Hero Award champion for 2023, taking around half (49%) of all of the votes cast.
Chris added: "I am over the moon to be named as the winner of the SGS Local Hero Awards – getting national recognition is a great feeling.
"Being named the winner has me thinking about what more I can do to help my local community.
“I am thankful that I have won the award, and thankful to SGS for the cash prize. I haven’t decided how I will use it yet, but I will be putting the money back into my local community.”
Chris has since pledged to put the £1k prize money back into his local community, as opposed to spending it on himself, and has been thinking about other ways that he can help his local area.
