Kind-hearted Dumfries youngster uses pocket money to buy Christmas presents for sick kids

Caring six-year-old Antonia Tanbini used £300 of her pocket money and savings to buy Christmas presents for children at Dumfries Infirmary.

The youngster, who has suffered from asthma, tonsillitis and cellulitis since birth, has been in and out of the hospital several times and knows how difficult it must be for others.

She decided to use her savings to purchase more than 40 toys which will help to cheer up those in the hospital during the festive period.

Proud dad Anthony, 38, said: “Me and my wife Nicola are over the moon that she has decided to do this as she always says that she gets everything she wants so she asked how about we treat others this year.

“She has never done anything like this before. She came up with this idea as a few of our family friends have had kids in the hospital this year.

“Any time she got pocket money or birthday money, kept the change from the shops or the pound out of the trolley, she will put it in a tin to save up.

“She has picked most of the toys herself but as she was on a tight budget we had to give her a bit of advice on costs. If she had her way everyone was getting an iPhone 13.

“There are over 40 toys that she has been able to purchase.”

Anthony and Nicola, 44, have spoken to the hospital and are planning to deliver the presents with Antonia tomorrow afternoon.
