A kind Edinburgh stranger surprised an old couple who were celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary with a dozen red roses.
Gavin, 85, and Dorothy Wye, 82, often visit the Costa located inside the Tesco store in Colinton after their weekly shop as they enjoy a coffee and a cake.

The pair from Colinton Mains got married back in 1962 and have been together ever since living in the Colinton area of the capital. A lot has changed since the 60s in Edinburgh but the love between the couple has only grown stronger over the decades.
The mum-of-two was sadly diagnosed with dementia around seven years ago and ,as the condition progressed, her husband became her full-time carer. Gavin is helped by carers who come into the home three times a day.
The weekly trips to the local supermarket cafe have become a ritual and the couple are usually joined by their daughter Mandy. The outing last weekend was particularly special as it was the couple's 62nd anniversary.
While in the queue to order their usual coffee and cakes on Saturday, Gavin started chatting to a friendly stranger in the line and mentioned the milestone celebration. The lady congratulated them and finished her coffee before heading off. But minutes later she returned with a beautiful bunch of red roses which she gifted to the couple.
Due to her dementia, the family are not sure if Dorothy knew the gesture was an anniversary gift but told how the sweet act made the couple's day regardless her face lit up with joy.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live daughter Mandy Johnston said: "It was my parents 62nd Wedding Anniversary yesterday. They were in Costa in Tesco’s at Colinton Mains.
"My mum and dad had gone to Tesco to get shopping. I usually take them but I was away for the weekend. My mum likes going for a coffee and something to eat at Costa. She has dementia and she loves to people watch.
"My dad got talking to a lady in the queue and said that it was their anniversary that day. She bought her coffee’s and left. She then appeared back with the roses for them. My mum and dad were thrilled at her kindness to them."

Mandy went on to tell the sweet story of how her parents met and of the chance meeting that brought them together.
She said: "They met in a place that was called Greenhill it was at Churchhill/ Morningside in Edinburgh. They had met there on the Saturday night and then bumped into each other on the Sunday at Saxons shoe shop on princes street. My dad asked her to go to a 21st birthday party" she said.
If you were behind the kind act the family would love to say thanks for the wonderful act that made their day.
