Pupils and staff at a Coatbridge school have bid a fond farewell to their "kind and caring" head teacher.
Therese Macready has began her well earned retirement after 35 years of dedicated service to North Lanarkshire Council and its schools.
Latterly she spent nearly nine years as head teacher at St Bernard's Primary in Shawhead, where a special assembly was held to honour her terrific time at the school.
Kind and grateful pupils presented Therese with gifts including flowers and cards and serenaded her with songs including the classic Ye cannae shove yer Granny aff the Bus.
Therese was a picture of pure joy, while a few tears were also shed as people lined up to say how much she had meant to them.
A St Bernard's Primary spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : "After 35 years of dedicated service with North Lanarkshire Council, Mrs Macready is now entering retirement.
"Mrs Macready has taught in various schools, including St Kevin's and St. Augustine's primaries, and was a much-loved head teacher at St Bernard's Primary for almost nine years.
"She served the St Bernard's community with care and commitment throughout this time and considered her role as head teacher to be a privilege.
"By far her favourite part of the job was interacting with the children. She valued opportunities to spend time getting to know them and supporting them in all sorts of ways.
"Having good relationships with others was very important to her and during her time at St Bernard's she was known for her kind and caring nature.
"The staff and pupils of St Bernard's would like to thank Mrs Macready for all she has done.
"We will miss her very much, but hope she enjoys a long and happy retirement with her family."
