Kimberley Walsh has revealed how she and her former Girls Aloud bandmates have promised to honour the life and wishes of Sarah Harding.
Sarah died last September aged 39, just a year after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
And now Kimberley, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle have announced they will take part in a Race For Life for Sarah in a bid to raise much-needed funds for research projects.
Mum-of-three Kimberley said the girls have promised to organise fundraisers in their pal's memory following her death and admits they have many ideas "bubbling" already.
However, she told The Mirror that next month's Race For Life will be "a particularly special element of the whole thing" as it will be a nice way to bring everyone together.
She admits the 5k event on July 24 will be the perfect way for fans to play a part in helping the charity Sarah was desperate to aid.
While Cheryl, Nicola and Nadine plan to take in the event at London's Hyde Park, Kimberley will be participating elsewhere, but said that the beauty of the event is you can be involved wherever you are.
She said: "I'll face-time the girls while I'm doing it and it's quite good because, actually, anyone can do it remotely as well - you can still do it from wherever you are."
And after joking that Nicola has been in training, she said anyone can get involved as it can be a walk as well as a run.
Kimberley continued: "I think that fact and the reason we're doing it will help get anyone around it.
"We're not all necessarily keen runners, but I think just the nature of why we're doing it will mean it's not going to be hard."
Elsewhere, the former bandmates are busy planning a Gala dinner in Sarah's name, but Kimberley confessed an on-stage reunion still isn't going to happen.
"There won't be any reunion of any sort," she said. "I mean, because of losing Sarah, that's just not on anybody's radar right now and that's why I think as a group, we've tried to focus on doing something positive together for her instead, which is actually a really nice focus for us.
"We're kind of really just hoping to raise as much money as we possibly can and that will feel like a huge achievement for us."
As well as focusing on continuing with Sarah's fundraising wishes, Kimberley has also joined forces with home improvement retailer Wickes to launch the Wickes Community Programme competition.
The idea of the programme is to help renovate the nation's community areas, which is something Kimberley sees as vital, particularly after a tough lockdown.
The singer-turned-presenter added that the programme can help make spaces more appealing for the public and said: "I think now more than ever it's important to put a bit of TLC into these spaces.
"Hopefully it will help people get back out into the community and start socialising again, because we're kind of rebuilding these things."
Wickes is offering a community organisation the chance to win £10,000. Enter here for a chance to win for your community. The competition closes July 13.
