LSU coach Kim Mulkey’s wardrobe choices have been among March Madness’ biggest storylines. With the Tigers in the women’s national title game on Sunday, the expectations were high for Mulkey to raise the stake. Unsurprisingly, she did not disappoint.
Mulkey bypassed a pink-themed outfit she’s used in the previous two rounds of the tournament for a mascot-inspired look, donning sequined tiger stripes shimmering in black and gold from head to toe. To put it mildly, it was a show-stopper.

Sunday presented an opportunity for Mulkey to not only to complete her wardrobe tour de force, but also a shot at her fourth national championship. She previously won three while at Baylor in 2005, ’12 and ’19, and now has LSU in the national title game for the first time in program history.
The 60-year-old Louisiana native was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020. If there was a Hall of Fame for coaches making fashion statements, she’d likely get an invite to that, too.
