Kim Kardashian's unique walls add a 'sense of sophistication' to her neutral living room – here's how to recreate the look

Kim kardashian.

'Warm minimalism' has become one of the biggest interior design trends of 2023. While the trend has seen an increase in the use of cozy, warmer neutrals like beige, taupe, and brown, that doesn't mean that cooler neutrals should be totally ruled out.

A well-placed gray often adds depth and visual interest to a warm neutral color palette, and no space better exemplifies this look than Kim Kardashian's gray living room.

Kim's warm minimalist living space features greige floors, cream sofas, and a beige rug, but it is her sophisticated matte brushed gray walls that really steal the show, with experts saying that it is the gray color that truly elevates the space.

Jacky Chou, interior designer at Archute, says, 'I love to introduce contrasting elements when working with beige. I pair this warm neutral with gray to create a captivating visual interplay, since balancing light and dark will always add depth and a sense of luxury to a room.'

He continues, 'Cooler grays (like Kim's walls) provide a contemporary and refreshing feel. They work well in modern spaces and for minimalist decor, adding a sense of sophistication.'

Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens also says, 'Gray will always be a timeless living room color choice. It is extremely versatile, and can add a sense of calm and cooler depth to the room.'

Furthermore, interior designers say that Kim's textured walls also add a sense of unique visual interest to her living room space.

Jennifer continues, 'The brushed, uneven texture of the walls in Kim Kardashian's living room combined with the flat, matte texture creates an almost industrial look. The urban design, almost like concrete, adds some edge to the socialite's otherwise soft living space.'

Jacky also adds, 'Texture is my secret weapon for bringing neutral room ideas to life. I adore mixing various textures. The rich tactile experience makes the space feel inviting and comforting.'

If you're a fan of a warm minimalist look, then you can also look to the design principles of the quiet luxury trend – don't forget to incorporate some texture, and maybe even a touch of gray. Kim Kardashian would approve.
