Kim Kardashian's replicable walk-in fridge organization aids in menu planning and minimizes food waste

Sometimes, inspiration can be found in the most unlikely of places. In this case, it's meal prep motivation in the form of Kim Kardashian's fridge. Though we wouldn't usually think to look to the socialite for ideas on food organization, Kim's walk-in fridge has benefits far beyond aesthetics.

Kim's refrigerator organization, formulated by The Home Edit, prioritizes plastic-free storage that clearly displays as much food as possible. According to experts, this method is a game-changer for meal prep.

'Organizing items by categories such as dairy, condiments, and produce, as Kim has done, is positive and helps when knowing what you might need more of when replenishing or preparing a meal,' comments professional organizer Barbara Brock.

Danielle Dorn, VP of design at mDesign, a storage solutions company, adds, 'Keeping similar items together using clear containers and labels makes them easily accessible and ensures that older items are used first, reducing the chances of food getting forgotten or spoiled.'

We see these principles represented in Kim's fridge, where similar foods are stored together, and open bins make it easy to see each item in the space, effectively decluttering the fridge.

How did Kim achieve the look? First, buying a fridge this large doesn't hurt. 'Having an industrial fridge is a game-changer! It's a restaurant-size kitchen, with lots of appliances and pots and pans, so we can fully cook at all times and always be prepared for our family and guests,' Kim told Poosh.

However, no matter the size of your fridge, you can use effective storage to optimize the way you use your food. To create these effects, Barbara recommends that readers group like items together, like Kim.

She further suggests: 'Use bins to keep items separated and neat and use glass containers over plastic containers for keeping foods fresh. Adjust the shelving so you can see the most frequently used items at eye level. Finally, store meats in a lower part of the refrigerator to prevent cross-contamination.'

By following these easy tips, you can create a fridge that's just as effectively stocked as Kim's. Investing in beautiful containers and carefully planning your fridge design is an investment in your lifestyle and pattern of consumption.
