Kim Kardashian’s pantry embodies ‘less is more’ design – and professional organizers love her technique

Kim Kardashian’s style has long been the blueprint for monochromatic interiors, and the socialite and businesswoman’s home champions minimalism and neutral colors. Apparently, Kim's commitment to the minimalist aesthetic extends even to her closets.

Photos of the Skims founder's pantry reveal rows of monochromatic dishware alongside simple baskets and jars for food storage. Professional pantry organizers and design experts alike are captivated by the look.

Jennifer Ebert, color expert and digital editor at Homes & Gardens is a huge fan of the aesthetic of Kim's storage idea. 'I love the way that Kim chose dishware to match her shelves. It creates a chic and cohesive look in the pantry. The lighting under the shelves is another excellent feature of this space, giving the pantry a warm glow and sophisticated appeal.'

However, in Kim's own words, her pantry idea goes beyond aesthetics. 'It's so necessary to be extra organized when having four kids who all have different dietary needs, dairy sensitivities, and different likes and dislikes,' Kim told Poosh. She continued, 'Also, we have friends and family over all the time and need to be aware of different sensitivities, allergies, and diets, such as gluten-free or nut allergies, so it's important to have things organized at all times. We also switched everything in our house from plastic to glass.'

If you are looking for a new organization technique, the baskets and bins used by Kim for food storage are the preferred pantry organization method for professional organizers. For instance, Juliana Meidl, a Detroit-based professional organizer at Serenity at Home, swears by the jars Kim uses for dry food. She states,' I do often recommend moving frequently used food items into clear jars. Using clear canisters with good lids is a better way to keep those items fresh versus keeping them in the original packaging.'

She continues, 'Another benefit is when items are stored in clear bins, you can always see when you are running out. This helps prevent having multiple bags of the same item because you can't find what you have.'

Juliana also recommends Kim's snack baskets for organizing a small pantry. She states: 'We do use baskets for non-perishable items often. They are especially a great option for snacks. When clients want snacks easily accessible for their kids, we often use baskets on the floor or the lowest shelf.'
