Kim Kardashian's lock of Marilyn Monroe hair is a fake, says historian

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian wowed fans at the recent Met Gala by wearing an iconic Marilyn Monroe dress, but the lock of hair from the blonde bombshell given to the 41-year-old for the event has been called a fake by an expert.

The outfit was loaned by Ripley’s Believe it Or Not! Museum, in Orlando, who also supplied the platinum-coloured tresses. They claim the hair was cut just before her legendary Happy Birthday serenade of President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden in May 1962.

According to Ripley’s’ initial description, the "lock was clipped by her hairstylist Robert Champion just prior to her performance".
