Kim Kardashian pleads with fans to help save death row inmate ahead of execution

Kim Kardashian has turned to her fans as she begged them to help her save a death row inmate.

The 42-year-old reality star turned lawyer has become an outspoken advocate for prison reform and is desperate to use her legal knowledge to save a convict from being executed in just three weeks' time.

Richard Glossip was sentenced to death for ordering the killing of 1997 Barry Van Treese, the owner of a motel in Oklahoma City where Glossip worked.

He has maintained his innocence.

The murder conviction handed down to Glossip was upheld by an appeals court last week and he is due to be executed on May 18.

Kim has taken to Twitter to ask her fans for their support.

"Richard Glossip needs our help, urgently! He has been on Oklahoma's death row for 24 years for a crime he did not commit and is now scheduled to be executed on May 18th," she wrote.

"Please help this innocent man by calling the pardon board at 405-602-6437 or email contact.us@ppb.ok.gov and request that the board grant him clemency."

She also told fans to contact Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt to "let him know in your own words that Richard Glossip deserves a full pardon."

Kim finished her plea by writing: "We cannot execute another man, especially for a crime he didn't commit!

"Everyone has to hear about Richard Glossip."

Glossip was jailed for the death of Barry Van Treese, who was killed by Justin Sneed.

Glossip was convicted and given the death penalty after he was found guilty of paying Sneed $10,000 (£8,000) to kill Mr Van Treese.

His murder conviction has been upheld despite concerns by Oklahoma's Attorney General Gentner Drummond over some evidence and testimony.

Mr Drummond argued Sneed's testimony, which was used to convict Glossip, should be thrown out. He said there were "material misstatements" to the jury about Sneed's mental health and drug use.

However, Judge David Lewis said Glossip "has not provided this court with sufficient information that would convince this court to overturn the jury's determination that he is guilty of first-degree murder and should be sentenced to death".

Judge Lewis said this was despite his case being "thoroughly investigate and reviewed".
