Kim Kardashian Faces Backlash For Wearing Red At Indian Wedding

“Not Supposed To Wear Red”: Kim Kardashian Sparks Controversy At Indian Billionaire’s Wedding

Kim Kardashian sparked controversy for wearing two fiery red outfits at the extravagant three-day wedding of Indian billionaire heir Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai. While some admired the glamour of her ensembles, others criticized her choice as the color red is traditionally reserved for Indian brides.

Accompanied by her sister Khloé Kardashian, Kim donned a red lehenga on Friday and another red outfit with a long veil on Sunday for the celebrations. The star-studded event included guests like John Cena, Tony Blair, Priyanka Chopra, and Nick Jonas, with Justin Bieber reportedly performing at a cost of $10 million.

Wearing red to an Indian wedding is considered inappropriate, as the color holds significant cultural symbolism. In Indian tradition, red is exclusively worn by the bride, symbolizing new beginnings, passion, and prosperity. It also represents the Hindu goddess Durga, signifying feminine power and new life.

Fashion experts emphasize the importance of respecting cultural norms when attending Indian weddings. Guests are advised to avoid wearing red and opt for modest Indian attire or western clothing that aligns with traditional styles.

The wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani, Asia's wealthiest individual, reportedly cost around $600 million, making it one of the most lavish weddings in recent times. This extravagant affair surpassed the cost of the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, which was estimated at $110 million.
