Kim Kardashian is said to be “embarrassed” by the claims her family were not invited to this year’s Met Gala.
It was previously reported that the Kardashian-Jenners were not included on the guestlist for the Met Gala, which takes place on May 1, by request of Vogue editor Anna Wintour in a bid to “crack down” on attendees.
According to a Page Six source, the famous family “didn’t make the cut” for the annual fundraising gala this year. It has since been claimed though that Kim, 42, has actually been invited to the event.
The SKIMS founder was thought to have been left “very unhappy” by the reports on what has now been classed as a “misunderstanding” from another insider.
“Anna had wanted to do a cull of the guest list this year and make it more of an exclusive event,” the source told US Sun.
“And while lots of names were discussed, attendees have always been an ongoing conversation and nothing was ever set in stone. Kim was never told she might not be on the list.
“While invites have now officially been sent out and Kim has been confirmed, the news leak about her possibly not getting an invite did see tensions run high behind the scenes in what has been a big misunderstanding.”
The report of the Kardashian-Jenners being banned from this year’s Met Gala comes after the family have attended the fundraiser several times in recent years.
Last May was the first time sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner were all in attendance together with their mum and manager Kris Jenner.
Kim has also been attending the Met Gala consistently since her first appearance with ex-husband Kanye West in 2013.
The media personality stole the limelight at last year’s event as she arrived wearing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic ‘nude’ dress, worn 60 years ago when she famously sang ‘Happy Birthday’ for President John F. Kennedy.
Kim said at the gala that she lost 16 pounds to fit into the reported $4.8 million dress, which garnered backlash at the time.
