Kim Kardashian 'embarrassed' by claims her family is banned from the Met Gala

Kim Kardashian is reportedly "embarrassed" by the claims that the KarJenner family have been banned from the Met Gala this year.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Kardashians and the Jenners were cut from the guest list for this year's event as Vogue editor Anna Wintour "cracks down" on this who can attend.

While Vogue didn't initially comment on whether or not the family would be in attendance, a source revealed they didn't make the cut.

However, an insider now claims that "nothing was ever set in stone" and that Kim was "never told she might not be on the list".

"While invites have now officially been sent out and Kim has been confirmed, the news leak about her possibly not getting an invite did see tensions run high behind the scenes in what has been a big misunderstanding," the source said.

They continued to the US Sun : "It's been embarrassing for everyone involved but Kim is still excited and has already been working with a top fashion house to design a custom look for the night."

Mirror have contacted Kim's representatives for comment.

It was previously reported that Kim and sisters Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie - all of whom attended last year - will miss out on this year's event.

Speaking to Page Six , the insider said Anna had been "cracking down on the guests at the annual fashion fete and no Kardashians will make the cut".

However, a source close to the Kardashians later claimed to the publication this was not the case.

Last year, Kim angered fans when she showed up at last year's red carpet wearing Marilyn Monroe's infamous gold dress.

The gown was first worn by model Marilyn 60 years ago as she sang happy birthday to then-president John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday.

She admitted she had to lose 16 pounds in order to fit into what has been dubbed the "world's most expensive dress", worth a reported $4.8 million.

Last year's Met Gala was the first time Kourtney and Khloe attended the event.

However, Khloe claimed she was previously invited to the Met but simply decided not to go

"I’m not big on red carpets. I think I’ve made that very clear," she said.
