Kim Kardashian 'declines' new Balenciaga campaign as she 're-evaluates' her ties

Kim Kardashian reportedly turned down a new Balenciaga campaign offer before speaking publicly about the backlash surrounding the brand's distasteful BDSM ads.

The reality TV star, 42, had publicly announced she was re-evaluating her links with the company, but it appears the latest claims show the star has made up her mind.

She had faced criticism for not speaking out earlier about the ad, which featured children holding teddy bear bags accessorised with bondage gear and documents referencing a Supreme Court ruling that upheld a law that criminalises child sexual abuse images.

But when she did, the SKIMS founder admitted it had left her "shaken". Now, it's been claimed the company have tried to keep the worldwide star on board as they try to rebuild their badly battered brand.

A source told TMZ that the company's design house had shown Kim an offer for a campaign next year. While the offer is thought to have came before the latest scandal, the publication says she's now refused to deal with them in the aftermath.

It's thought the decision came before her long-awaited statement was released. Her initial statement posted on her Instagram Story several days after the failed campaign launched read: "I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been shocked and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.

"As a mother of four, I have been shaken by those disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in our society - period."

She continued: "I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology. In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again."

Kim is also said to have pulled out of wearing the brand at up coming events as she tries to distance herself from the furore.

The issues come as Kim finally sorted her divorced settlement with Kanye West this week. Following the settlement, reports suggest Kim is now the proud owner of the $4.5million home ex-husband Kanye bought next door to her $60million mansion after their split.
