Kim Cattrall teases Sex And The City future as she 'won't say goodbye' to Samantha

Sex And The City star Kim Cattrall has teased fans of the show that her infamous character Samantha might not be out of the show forever.

The actress, who played a sex-mad PR guru in the six seasons of Sex And The City and two films, has so far been absent from the HBO reboot And Just Like That but is expected to make a small cameo in the second season.

The 66-year-old actress has given fans some hope that the cameo might not be the only chance to see Samantha again, as she told the Today show: "I don't think I'll ever say goodbye to Samantha."

She added: "She's like a lot of other characters that I've done over the years. I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much and I’m so appreciative of her."

When the first season of the Sex And The City reboot aired in 2021, Kim was not present. When the reboot was initially confirmed by HBO bosses, Kim made it clear she would not be taking part as she had an icy relationship with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the lead role of Carrie Bradshaw.

In 2019, Kim made a direct statement as she confirmed to fans that Samantha would not be in the new series: "It's a "no" from me. You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun."

However, Kim was later contacted by HBO who were desperate to have her on board for the second season, with bosses reportedly asking her "What can we do?"

Kim's cameo appearance as Samantha in the second season of And Just Like That will reportedly leave viewers in suspense with a cliffhanger scene at the end of the season's finale.

Whilst few details have been leaked about the Samantha's return including that Samantha and Carrie will speak on the phone, much of the storyline remains a fiercely guarded secret.

However, Kim isn't ready to fully commit to Samantha returning for season three as a main character. When asked on The Today Show about how she feels about possibly reprising her role as Samantha in the future, the actress simply said: "That’s as far as I’ll go."
