Residents and businesses in three North Ayrshire towns are being urged to help shape the future of their communities.
Largs, Saltcoats and Kilwinning have been selected for a pilot project which aims to address local needs and ambitions.
North Ayrshire Council is inviting anyone with an interest in each place to attend 'public design and ideas' workshops later this month where they can propose ideas and projects to improve the towns.
Bosses say the move will help inform the preparation of a plan called a ‘Place Framework’ which will help guide future decisions within the areas.
A project team, led by Austin-Smith:Lord with WAVEparticle consultants, have been appointed to work with local people to develop projects and ideas with a focus on delivery and future funding opportunities.
The discussions in Saltcoats and Kilwinning will build on the outcomes of design charrettes held in the towns in recent years.
The workshops are as follows;
- Largs: Clark Memorial Hall ,12pm-8pm on Wednesday May 18 and Thursday, May 19; Saturday, May 21 from 10am -2pm
- Saltcoats :- Town Hall 12pm-8pm on Monday, May 23.
- Kilwinning - Erskine Hall 12- 8pm on Thursday May 24
On these days members of the project team will also be in and around each town to canvass the opinion of folk on-street.
Janet Dunsmore, Regeneration Manager at North Ayrshire Council, said: “Local communities know their towns better than anyone and their views will be invaluable as we develop new ideas and themes for Largs, Kilwinning and Saltcoats.”
Further details of the programme of events and workshops will be published in the near future, alongside how to have your say and share your ideas online or in writing.
The pilot project is funded by the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund.
