Kiltwalk returns to Balloch this weekend - tell us your reasons for walking

The Kiltwalk returns to Balloch this weekend, with the ever-popular fundraiser taking place for the first time since 2019.

After seeing in-person events axed by the pandemic, organisers are expecting a bumper crowd to pull on their walking boots for the journey from Glasgow Green to Balloch Castle.

The four Scottish Kiltwalks - in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen - allow people to raise funds for the charities and causes they care about, which receive a 50 percent top-up from Sir Tom Hunter’s Foundation.

More than £1m has been raised for CHAS, who run Balloch's Robin House Hospice through the Kiltwalk, with hundreds of charities across the country benefiting.

In 2019 more than £3.5million was raised for a range of charities and organisations with many walkers matching their kilts with a t-shirt highlighting their chosen good cause.

A total of 13,000 people made it to Balloch, including Judy Murray, Jackie Bird, actor Tom Urie and Sean Batty.

This year we're looking to hear why Lennox Herald readers are taking on the gruelling challenge.

To share your fundraising story email us news@Lennoxherald.co.uk or message us via social media - and we'll feature as many stories as we can in next week's paper.
