Major roadworks in Kilmarnock have been extended until at least June.
Work on the town's Victoria Bridge, on Queen’s Drive, has been disrupting drivers since January.
The three phases of work were only meant to last until the end of April but now Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA_ has revealed the project isn’t likely to be completed until June 10.
An ARA spokesperson said: “We’ve already made good good progress on these works, however, as often happens with such projects, we have encountered some unforeseen difficulties which have altered our schedule.
“Phase one was originally scheduled to finish Thursday, March 10. It is now expected to finish between Monday, April 11 and Monday, April 25.
“To undertake these works safely and efficiently, affected roads will be closed at times during this period. We will make every effort to keep closures to a minimum.
“If you use the bridge, please watch out for our advance notification signage, which we will erect on site ahead of each phased closure.”
The spokesperson went on to provide a detailed breakdown of the phases of work:
Phase one...
“Work started on Thursday, January 6. We now expect this to continue until Monday, April 25.
“During phase one, New Mill Road will be closed from the junction with Welbeck Street eastwards for 30 metres.”
