Motherwell boss Steven Hammell says drawing against Kilmarnock feels almost worse than a defeat, because of how much the game meant to the club.
The Steelmen were looking for only their second home win of the season and looked to be home and dry with that, as goals from Kevin van Veen and Callum Slattery had them 2-0 up inside 60 minutes.
That looked to be compounded when Killie skipper Alan Power was shown a straight red card for a shocking foul on Paul McGinn.
But McGinn headed Danny Armstrong's cross into his own net in 73 minutes, and two minutes later former Motherwell hero Liam Polworth arrowed an unstoppable shot into the top right corner from 25 yards to level.
Hammell groaned: "It probably feels worse than a defeat, considering how big the game was for us, the amount of preparation and work we put in leading up to it.
"I felt it was a strong performance up until then, to then come away with one point is just not acceptable.
"I felt we deserved more. I'm trying to get my head round how we've not come away with three points.
"I don't want to sit here and talk about positives when we've come away with a point from a game we should have won.
"There was a three-minute spell in the 90 minutes when we've lost all momentum and they've capitalised on it.
"The goals we've conceded are poor, up until that point it was good, but that three-minute period cost us three points.
"It's happened a couple of times this season when the opposition has gone down to 10 men and we've struggled to deal with that, and the momentum swing has almost gone up the opposite way.
"But we should be good enough on the pitch. The players should be professional enough to see that over the line."
