'Killer worm' found in Scotland as warning issued to gardeners

Experts have warned that people should now be on the look out for two new species of killer hammerhead flatworms - some of which could pose a risk to some earthworm species and soil ecosystem.

The worms are said to measure just 3cm long however despite their small size, they are said to pose a risk to native British species relied on by gardeners and farmers.

Common garden creatures including snails and earthworms can be killed by the flatworms with scientists warning they are now risking becoming an invasive species.
