Kieran Trippier jumped on Twitter to mock rivals Sunderland while at a Sam Fender gig in Newcastle. The Magpies right-back was attending the first of the North Shields native's two homecoming shows at the Utilita Arena last night.
He posted a video of the crowd and was in awe as black-and-white flags made the venue appear like a Newcastle United home game. However, Trippier could not resist the urge to have a swipe at the Black Cats, provoking a reaction from both sets of supporters.
The England defender is still recovering from a broken metatarsal and has not featured since the 1-0 win against Aston Villa in February. Eddie Howe confirmed last week that the 31-year-old's recovery is going well and he could feature before the end of the season.
One of Trippier's teammates - centre-back Dan Burn - was also in attendance to watch the Seventeen Going Under star. One fan joked: "Gutted if you got stuck behind him", in reference to the defender's 6ft 7in frame. Another quipped: "Looks like he's sitting down to me" as Burn enjoyed the Newcastle show.
