Kieran Tierney 'not happy' at Arsenal as Celtic diehard tipped to be 'dream' at club closer to home

David Hiller reckons Kieran Tierney is 'not happy' at Arsenal and wants to be closer to his family.

The Celtic diehard has had a difficult campaign on the park in terms of starts with the Scotland international mostly playing second fiddle to former Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko - who made the move last summer. Even when the versatile ace was ruled out for the final games of the season, Mikel Arteta opted for Jakub Kiwior in the starting role over KT.

He got the final ten minutes of the final day demolition job over Wolves to bring an end to the season and potentially his Arsenal career with Hiller suggesting he wants to be closer to home and 'you can tell a mile off' he is not happy in North London.

Newcastle and Eddie Howe have been strongly linked with a move for the full-back and now that they have secured Champions League football that could make that an even more attractive option for the 25-year-old. Hiller reckons he would be a 'dream' at St James' Park and be the real Tierney the Gunners had hoped to clap eyes on in red and white.

He told the Highbury Squad podcast: "We were talking about disappointments, and I will say there were a couple of players who had the potential to do a lot better this season who didn’t I will say Kieran Tierney, he could’ve worked harder at being happy, he could’ve given a bit more.

"Tierney’s situation is nothing to do with playing a different way or adapting his game. I’m telling you, the boy is not happy, you can tell it a mile off.

"He wants to be with his family, he's a home boy. I truly, honestly believe I can see it in Tierney’s face, he loves Arsenal and playing for the club, but his heart is somewhere else, where his family is.

"There’s a club up there who have just gotten into the Champions League who aren’t far away from where his family is, and he'd be a dream at a place like that. Then you'd see the lad we all expected to go and progress at Arsenal.

"I'm not writing his Arsenal career off, but it’s about happy players."
