Kieran Tierney in candid Celtic fan interview as Arsenal star recalls 'out of body experience'

Kieran Tierney might be plying his trade with Arsenal but the former Celtic star's heart has never really left the east end of Glasgow.

The 24-year-old made his competitive senior debut for his boyhood heroes on 22 April 2015, coming on as an 81st-minute substitute in a Scottish Premiership match against Dundee.

He then went on to make over 100 appearances for the Hoops, winning five league titles, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups in the process before leaving for north London in 2019.

Tierney talks to Arsenal's match programme about his time at Celtic, particularly is relationship with the fans after some important victories under Brendan Rodgers.

He said: "Stuff like that was just… just wow.

“You will never be able to compare that feeling to anything else in the world.

"It was seriously like an out-of-body experience.

“I’ve got the megaphone and I’m leading the chants with people I used to actually sit in the stands with. I was on the pitch, looking straight at my mates who I grew up with, who are down there at the front singing with you.

"Stuff like that is fairy-tale stuff. It’s not until you talk about it afterwards, or watch it back that I realise how insane, how incredible it was."

Tierney grew up in a Celtic daft household but reckons the fact he's open in his loyalty to the club that nobody ever asks him questions about it.

He added: "You know what, I’ve never done an interview about this before, or really spoken about it much.

"People just assume it means a lot to me so don’t ask about it, but when I think about it now, it really was incredible.

"What an experience that was. What a feeling it would be, for anyone.

"The only thing you can really liken it to is being a singer, and having people singing your song back at you at a gig."
