Kieran Tierney has already told Arsenal why he would reject Manchester City transfer amid links

Manchester City have been linked with a shock move for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney this summer but the Scotland international has already expressed his love for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his squad ahead of the return of European football next season and he will no doubt be eager to retain as many members of his current squad as possible. Tierney suffered an injury-hit 2021-22 campaign but is still highly-regarded at the Emirates and is a valuable leader on and off the pitch.

Pep Guardiola is closing in on the signing of Brighton defender Marc Cucurella to bolster his left-back options but The Scotsman have reported that Tierney is also a target of the Premier League champions. However, it would be a surprise to see the defender go through with the move.

Last summer saw Tierney sign a new long-term deal at the Emirates. In the aftermath, he was interviewed by the club about what it meant to get the agreement over the line and expressed just how happy he was in north London.

"I think the vision of the club and where it wants to go, the expectations of the club is where I want to be in football, at the top," Tierney said in the summer of 2021. "There's no doubt about it that we're not where we want to be just now but we're going in the right direction.

"The way the club is run from the inside is amazing, I love everyone - all the staff, the players, the manager and working with them is an absolute joy. So being happy in life speaks for a lot and I am happy and more than happy to commit my future."
