Kieran Tierney Arsenal to Real Sociedad transfer addressed

Mikel Arteta was asked directly about the future of Kieran Tierney today.

The defender looks to be on his way out of Arsenal having fallen out of favour under the Spaniard.

The Scotland international is set for a season-long loan move to Real Sociedad in La Liga. The Spanish side will include an option to buy as part of the deal.

They emerged as frontrunners for the former Celtic left-back's signature after Newcastle opted to sign Lewis Hall from Chelsea instead of KT.

Tierney has trained alone this week and hasn't been included in either of the Gunners' two Premier League fixtures so far against Nottingham Forest or Crystal Palace.

It's highly unlikely he will feature against Fulham tomorrow as his exit edges closer.

But speaking to the media today, Arteta refused to be drawn in on the club's transfer movements.

Asked if there was any news on exits, he said: "No. There are some movements happening. The last week is going to be busy. Nothing that we can announce at the moment."

Put on this spot about Tierney, he was asked if he's given any recommendations about Sociedad to the Scot. He replied: "Again, there are things that aren’t resolved yet. When that’s the matter, I’ll tell you."

Then asked how essential it is to have a happy squad, he explained: "Really important. Especially for the players. Everybody needs to have clarity in their roles, where they are playing, and for their families as well.

"We need to have clarity of the numbers as well and who can do what. While the window is open, which is still a bit strange to be competing in competitions while the window is open, we have to deal with that. It’s happened for a long time and we’re used to it."
