Newcastle United are reportedly not ready to give up on the fight to sign Kieran Tierney.
The Scotland international has been the subject of serious interest from a variety of clubs this summer.
The 26-year-old's days at Arsenal appear to be numbered after falling way down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta at The Emirates.
With Oleksandr Zinchenko out with an injury, Jurrien Timber, a natural right-sided defender, started in that position in the club's Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle are long-term admirers of former Celtic star Tierney, along with Aston Villa.
And The Telegraph reports that a deal is being planned by the Magpies to take Tierney on loan for the campaign with an obligation to buy the left-back next summer.
It comes as the St James' Park side plans to make a move for either Tierney or Chelsea outcast Marc Cucurella before the window closes.
La Liga side Real Sociedad have already had a straight loan bid for Tierney knocked back by the Gunners.
So, by throwing in a set transfer fee for the end of the deal in summer 2024, Newcastle are hopeful that could secure the move.
Eddie Howe's side are preparing for their first taste of Champions League football in over 20 years this season after finishing in the top four last term.
Tierney is valued at around £30million. He was sold to Arsenal by the Hoops for £25m back in 2019.
