Kieran Culkin goes viral after sharing ‘adorable’ Britishisms

A clip of Kieran Culkin listing the most “adorable” Britishisms on The Graham Norton Show has gone viral.

The Succession actor, 42, who is from New York, shared how he’s picked up quirky British expressions from his London-born wife, Jazz Charton, 36.

The couple met in a bar in his local Manhattan neighbourhood and have been together for 13 years. They married in 2013 and now share two children, daughter Kinsey Sioux and son Wilder Wolf.

Although the Culkin family has always lived in America, they frequently visit the UK to spend time with Jazz's relatives.

During these trips, the former Home Alone star revealed that he’s come to appreciate the nuances of British culture and has even compiled a mental list of quintessential British habits and sayings.

Speaking on the BBC One show, Culkin told Graham Norton about some of the “adorable” words he’s learned from his wife, starting—much to the audience’s amusement—with the term “baps” while watching WWE.

He began: “There’s this wrestler called Biggie, who was this really big muscular guy, big biceps, you know? Pecs all that.

“He had a singlet on him and before he would do his finishing move, he would take it off, and we were watching this on TV, and she just went, ‘That’s right, love, get your baps out.’ I was like, ‘What?! I need that word.’”

The American actor also said he loved the word “chuffed”, turning to his A Real Pain co-star Jesse Eisenberg, “We don’t have anything like it in the States, nothing.”

Addressing the audience in London while sat alongside Daniel Craig and Nicola Coughlan, Culkin added: “You guys have the most adorable little expressions and words for things.”

He then listed more words, such as “chinwag” for conversation and “sunnies” for sunglasses, as well as “brolly” for umbrella.

“The most adorable thing is that you guys say is poo,” he added. “The cutest sentence I think I’ve ever heard anyone say is. ‘I done a poo.’”

When Norton asked him what children in America do, Culkin quipped: “They s***, I don’t know!” leaving the audience laughing.
