Kids' favourite Funbox will take a bow at final show in West Lothian

After seven years of providing on-stage family entertainment in West Lothian, Funbox is set to play its final ever string of dates at the Howden Park Centre this summer.

Funbox will play their last show in West Lothian as they embark on their final tour - visiting Livingston in the last weekend of next month, doing two shows on Saturday July 30 and Sunday July 31.

The trio that make the face of FunBox - Kevin Macleod, Anya Scott-Rodgers and Bonzo the Dog - all hail from the Scottish children’s musical, The Singing Kettle.

Kevin, Anya, and Gary Coupland created Funbox as a musical theatre group to provide children’s entertainment on stage across Scotland in 2015.

This summer will see the groups final tour under the Funbox name - named after the box that plays a central role in every production, containing everything the audience needs to ‘sing a song or have an adventure.’

Anya Scott-Rodgers said: “Funbox has been an incredible part of our lives, and visiting Livingston was always a highlight.

“All good things must come to an end, and we’re planning to go out on a high.

“We can’t wait to perform one final time and say a fond farewell to our loyal audience.”

Their final show is called ‘Jungle Party’ and promises audiences will recognise their traditional singalong songs and distinct Scottish acting - reminiscent of The Singing Kettle.

The jungle-themed show invites local kids to come to the show dressed as their favourite wild animal.

Kevin Macleod added: “Seven years have come and gone in the blink of an eye and we still can’t believe how lucky we’ve been to call this our job.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming audiences to Howden Park Centre to sing with us for one last big Funbox hoolie!”

Funbox have taken their tours as far as Orkney and Cambridge, and began their final tour back on April 17 in Dunfermline and will play its final ever show on September 18 at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall.

Since forming, Funbox have taken their special brand of family fun the length and breadth of the country and beyond, with memorable performances in Orkney, Cambridge – and plenty of places in between.
