The big opening weekend of The Hoppings is promising more than 400 attractions and is set to include some very special visitors too, in the form of favourite fairytale characters and superheroes.
The giant funfair's annual summer outing on the Town Moor in Newcastle will get under way on Friday with a 10-day programme of entertainment. And, in addition to the ever-popular rides, its organisers have now announced the star guests of a Kids Club which will take place over the weekends.
The club will run on Saturdays and Sundays, from 1pm to 5pm, in Feast Street, The Hoppings' food court which launched last year near the centre of the fairground site. It promises afternoons of magical fun in the company of popular children's characters and helping to bring the fairytale sparkle on its first Saturday will be Sleeping Beauty, with Superman also adding to the fun.

Next it will be the turn, on Sunday of Frozen's Elsa and Anna, the royal sisters at the heart of the much-loved icy adventure story. Then, following up next weekend, will be Belle and the Beast on June 25 and Cinderella on June 25, with Superman back in action on the same last day of the fair.
In addition, there will be guest appearances throughout the Kids Club dates by Mickey Mouse and Paw Patrol characters. While there is always much attention focused upon the fair's big white-knuckle rides, there are more than 100 attractions in store for children too, including very young ones.
As well as the Kids Club, these will include bouncy castles, slides, tea cups rides and mini coasters. There will be plenty traditional sideshow entertainment too, such as hook-a-duck and coconut shies.
