A man and woman are facing kidnapping charges after allegedly forcing an intruder to a Port Stephens park before smashing a windscreen and assaulting two other people.
Police were called to Boomerang Park at Raymond Terrace about 8.30pm on Sunday, August 2.
Initial reports were of an assault.
Officers were told at the scene that a woman had allegedly attacked a man with a baseball bat after he was found on her nearby property.
The woman and another man allegedly detained the intruder, police were told, and forced him to walk to Boomerang Park.
Police were told two other men were also allegedly assaulted by the woman at the park, and the woman allegedly smashed a car's windscreen with the bat.
Paramedics were called and treated a 44-year-old man for facial injuries, bruising and swelling.
He was taken to Maitland Hospital for treatment.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 52-year-old woman at Raymond Terrace Police Station about 5.25pm on Monday, August 3.
She was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and kidnapping with the intent of committing a serious indictable offence occasioning actual bodily harm.
She was refused bail to face court, where bail was again formally refused.
She is scheduled to face Newcastle Local Court on September 30.
On Thursday, police arrested a 56-year-old man at the same police station in relation to the Boomerang Park incident.
The man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and the same kidnapping offence the woman is facing.
He received strict conditional bail and will face court in Newcastle on September 30 as well.
