Khloe Kardashian has revealed that former partner Tristan Thompson proposed to her prior to their latest split amid a paternity scandal.
The mum-of-two opened up about her decision not to accept when Tristan popped the question in December 2020, during a frank chat with sister Kim during the latest episode of The Kardashians.
Kim told Khloe she shouldn’t worry about ‘what’s humiliating’ as she expressed her shock that Khloe did not tell the family about the proposal at the time.
Speaking to the Hulu cameras, Kim explained that Tristan had said he planned to propose to Khloe on Valentine’s Day 2021, which marked ‘a year since they had drama’, in reference to a previous cheating scandal.
Yet when the date came and went, Kim said she called Tristan to ask if he had indeed proposed, only to learn he had done so months prior and Khloe had turned him down.
Explaining her decision at the time, Khloe said: “I said I need to make sure this is a totally different relationship, because I want to be proud to say I'm engaged to anyone.
“That's why I said I'm not comfortable accepting this right now, because I'm not excited to tell my family.
“As hurtful as that probably was for him, it was the truth. I'm not ever going to accept something and give someone false hope.”
Speaking to the cameras in a confessional, Kim then said: “I don't know, if someone asked me, I would have to say yes. I'd feel so bad.”
She then told Khloe: “I get it's super draining and I'm sorry. You don't deserve this and that's what sucks. You're the best person. You are a better person than anyone I know.”
As the show returned this month to share the ever-changing lives of the famous family, the premiere episode focused on Khloe’s journey of having a second child with Tristan by surrogate.
A title card at the beginning of the second episode noted those scenes, which showed Khloe with her newborn son born in August this year, were filmed after the remainder of the season.
Elsewhere in the second episode, Kim shared sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner ’s worries for Khloe’s drastic weight loss in the wake of her latest split from Tristan.
As Khloe walked in, Kim looked at her and remarked she looked ‘very skinny’, before sharing Kendall and Kylie’s worries about her health.
“I'm not trying to out them, but they did text me and say that they were a little concerned for you, because you're really skinny,” Kim said. “I said, ‘I think she's a little bit stressed’.”
Khloe was bemused that model Kendall had noted her thinner frame, as Kim continued: “I said, ‘No guys she's fine. You absolutely have every right to be concerned but I'm telling you, she's fine’.”
The Kardashians is available to stream on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
