Khawaja offered to retire a year before calling stumps

An emotional Usman Khawaja has revealed he first brought up retirement with Andrew McDonald a year ago, before being urged to play on by Australia's coach.

With his parents, brothers, wife and children watching on in the bowels of the SCG, Khawaja confirmed on Friday the fifth Ashes Test would be his last.
